A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM: ATAIRGIN TECHNOLOGIES and PEGGY FLEMING hotels in PisaJoin Forces In The Fight Against Women's Cancers | Peggy Fleming  | Celebrated figure skating champion and breast cancer survivor, Peggy Fleming, is best known for her style, grace, and courage. Her accomplishments include five U.S. National titles, three World titles, and the Olympic gold medal from the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble, France. It was the only gold medal the United States brought home from those games. Peggy, 52, has starred in five of her own television specials, one of which won two Emmy Awards, and in 1980, she was honored at the Sports Illustrated 20th Century Awards as one of seven "Athletes Who Changed the Game", a category that included Billie Jean King, Arnold Palmer, and Jackie Robinson. Throughout Peggy's career, she has been a spokesperson for a variety of women's health issues, including breast cancer awareness, osteoporosis, and fitness for women after 40. For the last 20 years, she also has provided commentary for ABC Sports' figure skating telecasts. | In February of 1998, Peggy was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a lumpectomy on the 30th anniversary of winning her Olympic gold medal. After completing successful radiation treatment, she began work on her autobiography, The Long Program, Skating Towards Life's Victories, which was a best seller in cities across the US. For the last 30 years she has been married to dermatologist, Greg Jenkins. They live in the San Francisco Bay Area and have two sons, Andy and Todd. Liebert as vice president of corporate development. Liebert will be responsible for directing business development activities, including establishing corporate partnerships and leading the development of strategic planning. She will report to Patrick D. Walsh, chief executive officer of Atairgin. "With extensive experience in corporate development as well as in drug discovery and development, Debra brings considerable business and industry expertise to our team as our research and clinical trials move us closer to commercialization," said Walsh. "At this exciting stage of our development, we are pleased to have someone of Debra's caliber on board." Liebert, 45, comes to Atairgin with more than 19 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, most recently as vice president of corporate development at Lion bioscience Inc., (formerly Trega Biosciences, Inc.) where she was instrumental in the successful merger and integration of the two companies. As senior director, corporate development, Liebert led corporate transactions involving major partnerships, divestitures and acquisitions. Prior to that, she held the position of senior director, medical and regulatory affairs, and managed the clinical development of new products. Before Lion bioscience, Liebert was director, clinical research, at Gensia, Inc., where she oversaw the design and implementation of investigational and marketed clinical research. She also held positions at the Institute for Biological Research & Development and Merck & Co., Inc. Liebert earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania. She earned a master of science in pharmacology/toxicology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a master of business administration degree at the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles.
